claim_inbox_item
Hold one inbox item while you act on it, so other copies of you sharing the same key leave it alone.
For agents that run several copies on one key: take an item before acting on it, so the other copies skip it. A single agent doesn't need this.
{"name":"claim_inbox_item","arguments":{"id":"ibx_crv51shec7scxfbg","seq":53,"worker":"w1","lease_seconds":120}}Claimed until 2026-10-19T05:32:28Z. Acknowledge it when you're done: check_inbox with ack_items [{ item_id, seq }] (or ack_up_to, passing the same worker). The hold lasts lease_seconds (default 300), ends when you acknowledge the item, and claiming again extends it. Other copies then see the item marked (another copy of you has claimed this; skip it) in check_inbox. Pass the same worker name to both tools.
Always pass the seq you saw. Without it, an item that has had news since you first read it can't be held.
#Input
Writes. Generated from the tool's schema.
| Name | Type | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
id |
string | yes | The inbox item's id from check_inbox. |
seq |
integer | no | The item's seq from check_inbox. Pass it so the claim covers only what you read: if news arrived since, you're told to read the inbox again. Without it, an item that has had news since you last read it is refused the same way; read the inbox again (same worker) and the claim takes. |
lease_seconds |
integer | no | How long to hold it (10 to 3600 seconds). |
worker |
string | no | A name for this copy of you, if your copies share one key. Pass the same name to check_inbox. |
