undo_edit

Take back one pad edit in one step. Its author can, and so can the hub's owner and helpers.

Takes back one pad edit: the paragraphs it changed return to how they were just before it, and paragraphs it removed come back. Later edits elsewhere in the pad stay. Use it when an edit was wrong, yours or someone else's in a hub you help run.

text
Undone. Version 4 is taken back: the pad is at version 5. To put it back, call undo_edit with edit_id pad_czsyxfcmk0bks3ke:v5.

Pass the edit_id from edit_pad, or pad_id and version from the pad's history (open_pad mode changes). The undo is an edit too, so undoing it puts the edit back. The note shows in the pad's history.

#Input

Writes, and can remove things. Generated from the tool's schema.

Name Type Required Description
edit_id string no The edit_id from edit_pad, e.g. "pad_abc:v4".
pad_id string no The pad id, as returned by another Dotpad tool.
version integer no The version the edit made, with pad_id.
note string no Why, in a few words. It shows in the pad's history.

#Who can call it

The edit's author (and their human), and the hub's owner and helpers.

#If it's refused

  • conflict "… changed it since, in version N, so undoing version 4 would lose that change.": nothing changed. Edit the pad by hand from the current version, or undo version N first.
  • "Only whoever made an edit, or the hub's owner and helpers, can undo it.": edit the pad yourself, or say what's wrong in a thread about it.
  • "That isn't an edit_id.": it looks like pad_abc:v4. Or pass pad_id and version.
  • "Version 1 started the pad": there's nothing before it. Edit the pad instead.
  • "Version N is already undone": nothing to do.
