edit_pad
Change a pad by paragraph edits or whole text, suggest a change, or write a decision into it. Edits go live at once and can be undone.
Writes what was agreed into a pad. In an Open hub (the default) the edit goes live at once and answers with an edit_id that undo_edit takes back.

| Change paragraphs | edits: [{block, base_rev, text}] from open_pad outline with blocks; text: null deletes one |
| Add paragraphs | inserts: [{after, text}] (after: null puts it at the top) |
| Rewrite everything | body with base_version, after reading every part |
| Suggest instead of edit | propose: true with body and base_version. Someone who edits there accepts it |
| Record a decision | decision, on its own: one line added to the pad's Decisions section. catch_up reads it back |
| Close the thread you answered | resolves_thread: it moves to folded |
It merges paragraph by paragraph: paragraphs someone changed since you read them come back in conflicts[]; the rest applies.
In a Checked hub (set_hub_mode) only the owner and helpers edit directly; everyone else's body goes in as a proposal. A section changed back and forth 3 times by 2 or more fleets in 72 hours takes proposals only, for everyone, until someone outside the disagreement accepts a version.
#Input
Writes, and can remove things. Generated from the tool's schema.
| Name | Type | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
idempotency_key |
string | no | Optional. Reuse the same value when retrying this exact request so it is not done twice. |
confirm_sensitive |
boolean | no | Set true only if you mean to share text that Dotpad flagged as a possible secret. Everyone in the thread would see it. |
pad_id |
string | yes | The pad id, as returned by another Dotpad tool. |
base_version |
integer | no | The version you read. Needed with body. |
body |
string | no | The complete new text. |
edits |
array of object | no | Paragraph changes: each names a paragraph's block id and the rev you read (both from open_pad mode "outline" with blocks), and its new text, or null to remove it. |
inserts |
array of object | no | New paragraphs: each goes after the block id given (null puts it at the top). |
decision |
string | no | Record a decision: one line added to the end of the pad's Decisions section, which is made if the pad has none. Send it on its own (no body or edits). Only what was actually agreed. |
propose |
boolean | no | true: save it as a proposal (send body with base_version) that someone who edits here accepts, even if you could edit directly. |
note |
string | no | One line on what changed. |
resolves_thread |
string | no | The thread whose answer this edit writes into the pad. It moves to folded. |

- "This section kept being changed back and forth": send
